Ian Hannam

Formerly Chairman of Global Capital Markets at J.P. Morgan, Ian has worked on over 300 transactions in over 40 countries during a 30 year career. Ian’s capital markets experience includes transformational transactions for BHP Billiton, Xstrata, BT, SABMiller, Pakistan Telecom, Rio Tinto, Rosneft and HSBC. He built J.P. Morgan’s natural resources business into the leading franchise in the sector and is responsible for introducing to the London market – and growing into leading blue chip stocks – several of the major diversified mining companies (BHP Billiton, Xstrata). Ian is a former Captain in the Territorial Army (TD) and has degrees from Imperial College BSc (Eng), ACGI and London Business School (MBA, MSc Econ). He is also a Chartered Civil Engineer (MICE, CEngl, FEANI).

Neil Passmore

Neil is the CEO and co-founder of Hannam & Partners. He has worked for nineteen years in natural resources corporate finance, advising on a broad range of capital markets and M&A transactions across the natural resource sector for clients including Xstrata, BHP Billiton, British Petroleum, Savannah Energy, and others. He has helped raise over USD30bn in capital in more than 60 capital markets transactions in his career, as well as advising on several of the resource industry’s transformational mergers and acquisitions. He is an active investor and serial business founder in sustainable agriculture and nature based carbon. He is a member of YPO’s London Chapter. He was one of Financial News’ ‘Rising Stars of Finance’. Neil was formerly a helicopter pilot in the British Army and has an MBA and MA (Oxon).

Andrew Chubb

Andrew was previously a Managing Director at Canaccord Genuity where he worked for almost eight years in the natural resources team. He has a broad range of international corporate finance, capital markets and M&A experience focussing on the metals, mining and natural resources sector. He has successfully advised on numerous IPOs, public and private equity and convertible capital raises and M&A transactions including AIM, TSX, ASX, NASDAQ and Official List companies, with a particular focus on Africa and the FSU. Prior to joining Canaccord Genuity, he spent four and a half years with law firm Berwin Leighton Paisner and is a qualified solicitor. He has a first class law degree from Manchester University. Andrew is acting as NED for Cora Gold Ltd (LSE: CORA) and Metals Exploration Plc (LSE: MTL).

Samuel Merlin

Samuel has diverse experience in sourcing and executing M&A and capital raising projects in the energy, infrastructure and oilfield services sectors globally. He previously served in the U.S. Department of Defense as an energy envoy overseeing activity in the Middle East and Central Asia. He worked with Afghanistan’s Minister of Mines & Petroleum to structure, negotiate and manage the implementation of Afghanistan’s first-ever production sharing contracts with CNPC, Dragon Oil and TPAO. He managed seismic operations, monitored operators’ work programs and field development plans, and developed oil & gas marketing and logistics, including the negotiation of the TAPI Pipeline. Samuel is member of the Association for International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN) and sits on AIPN’s Leadership Committee for its Young Negotiators program. He is a graduate with honours from Union College and completed studies at Central European University (Hungary), University of Tuebingen (Germany) and Babes-Bolyai University (Romania).

Matthew Hasson

Matthew was previously Managing Director at Numis Securities responsible for the mining team. He worked for 7 years as a specialist salesman and latterly in the Investment Bank. He has a broad range of skills including equity capital markets, M&A and private equity transactions. He has worked on a many IPO’s and capital raise’s for LSE, AIM, TSX & ASX companies including Randgold, Pretium, Ero Copper, Yellow Cake, Pilbara Minerals and NexGen. Prior to joining Numis he spent three years at Collins Stewart who were bought by Canaccord Genuity.

David Bellingham

David has over 20 years of mining finance experience advising on and executing transactions globally. His breadth of experience across the financing spectrum covers private equity and ECM, trade, project and acquisition finance and royalty and streaming agreements. David was formerly at Citibank in London as the Senior Advisor to its global commodities team, with a focus on mining project analysis and structuring. Before that, he was an Executive Director at Minexia Limited in London where he was responsible for originating and structuring ECM and project finance transactions. David also led the mining investments team at Quantum Global in Mauritius, focusing on private equity and mezzanine investment opportunities in Sub-Saharan Africa. This followed many years in banking working on mining project and acquisition finance transactions for Nedbank, WestLB and Rothschild in both London and Australia. David holds an Honours Degree in Business (First Class) from Monash University, a Master in Mining Engineering from Camborne School of Mines at University of Exeter and is a CFA Charterholder.

Guy de Selliers

Guy is a highly experienced business executive with over 45 years of expertise in both the private and public sectors across developed and developing countries. He has worked with governments, public institutions and corporations, specialising in resolving complex issues in the natural resources sector, particularly in mining. Guy’s career highlights include his advisory roles with the state-owned Mauritanian mining company SNIM, 15 years as a Board Member and adviser to Ivanhoe Mines, and leading advisory mandates in large-scale projects including Rio Tinto’s Simandou project and the US$ 4bn financing of Oyu Tolgoi. He has held senior executive positions at the World Bank, Lehman Brothers and JP Morgan, and was a founding member of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Guy is currently the Executive Chairman and interim CEO of TSX-V/FSE/OTCQB-listed rare earths developer Defense Metals Corp.

Sean Gorman

Sean is a seasoned executive with over 30 years of experience in the natural resources sector. He started his career as an engineer, leading the design and construction of oil refineries and onshore gas plants across various international locations over a ten-year period. Sean then transitioned into banking, working in senior executive roles overseeing project finance, debt restructuring, business development and equity investment across a range of industries, including mining, oil & gas, power, and renewable energy. Sean is a Chartered Engineer and holds a BEng (Honours) from Manchester Polytechnic and an MBA from Bayes Business School in London.

Leif Powis

Leif is from Western Australia with over 13 years of capital market experience operating across Europe, North America and Australia. Prior to joining Hannam and Partners, Leif was Head of Sales and Research at Cavendish Plc, a UK investment bank.
Since graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Finance, Leif has had a broad range of international experience advising a wide variety of growth focused businesses, providing funding solutions and strategic advisory services throughout all stages of the company life cycle. He has worked on and led numerous IPO’s and capital raisings across multiple sectors, with a bias towards natural resources, energy, industrials and technology.
Leif is a board level, trusted advisor who values providing bespoke corporate advice and returns for investors.

Jay Ashfield

Jay has over a decade of capital markets experience focussed on the natural resources sectors. Prior to joining Hannam & Partners in February 2018, Jay was a Director of Sales and Corporate Broking and head of natural resources at WH Ireland. Jay also worked at RBC Capital Markets as a specialist equity salesman in London and in the natural resources investment banking teams in Canada. Over the course of his career, Jay has advised and raised capital for numerous mining and oil & gas companies on most of the major stock exchanges.
